Machining methods for spline shafts
Spline Shaft processing methods: There are many processing methods for spline shafts. Mainly using cutting methods such as hobbing, milling and grinding, but also cold beating, cold rolling and other plastic deformation processing methods.

1, hobbing method: using spline hobbing in the Spline shaft milling machine or hobbing machine according to the method of processing, this method of productivity and accuracy are high, suitable for mass production.

2, milling method: in the universal milling machine with a special forming milling cutter directly milled out the contour between the teeth, using the indexing head to divide the tooth by tooth milling; if you do not use the forming milling cutter, you can also use two disc milling cutter at the same time milling a tooth on both sides, after milling good tooth by tooth and then use a disc milling cutter on the bottom diameter for slight trimming. The productivity and accuracy of the milling method are low, and it is mainly used in small batches of single-piece production to process the outer diameter of the centered spline shaft and the rough machining before hardening.

3、Grinding method: The spline tooth side and bottom diameter are ground on the spline grinding machine with a shaped wheel, which is suitable for machining hardened spline shafts or spline shafts with higher accuracy requirements, especially those centred on the inner diameter.

4. Cold beating method: On special machines.
