Because this kind of steel ball sleeve contains more carbon and carbide forming elements, there are more carbides in the structure of the steel ball sleeve. However, if the carbides in the steel ball sleeve are small and uniformly distributed, it is very beneficial to the hardness, wear resistance and heat treatment process performance of the steel.
Therefore, a suitable forging process must be controlled before heat treatment to replace the important carbide distribution.
The quenching temperature of this type of steel ball sleeve is in the "austenite decacarbide" range. Carbides can prevent the growth of austenite grains and improve the toughness of the steel ball sleeve. Rare carbides can also improve the wear resistance of the steel ball sleeve.
However, the remaining carbide should not be too much, because the carbide contains more alloying elements. If the carbide does not dissolve into the austenite too much, it will affect the hardenability of the steel ball sleeve.
Therefore, for this type of steel ball sleeve, the optimal quenching temperature should be selected. For example, 9SiCr steel ball sleeve, the most suitable quenching temperature is 860-870℃.
If the temperature is higher, the austenite grains will grow, and coarse martensite and more retained austenite will be obtained after quenching, which will reduce the strength, hardness and wear resistance of the steel ball sleeve.
If it is less than 850°C, less carbides will dissolve into austenite, and the hardenability of steel will decrease.
In order to maintain the high hardness of this type of mold steel ball sleeve, the tempering temperature is generally lower.
