According to customs statistics, in 2008, China's imports and exports of mold parts totaled 3.926 billion US dollars. Among them, the total value of imports was USD 2.004 billion, and the total value of exports was USD 1.922 billion. In 2009, the total import and export of China's mold parts was 3.807 billion US dollars, a decrease of 3.03% compared with 2008. Among them, the total import value was 1.964 billion US dollars, a decrease of 2% over 2008; the total export value was 1.843 billion US dollars, a decrease of 4.11% over 2008. Impacted by the international financial crisis in 2009, both imports and exports have declined, and deficits have always existed. Why has the trade deficit of the mold parts industry been maintained?
1. The industry started late, and the state encourages imports
Technology is not to "cultivate" but to "buy". This is the industry development strategy that Chinese enterprises have always adhered to. We are aware of the technological disadvantages in technology, especially in the core manufacturing field. Both the country and the enterprise are determined to change the current passive dilemma, in order to speed up the pace of development and shorten the time for technological upgrading. Both the government and enterprises tend to buy technology and machinery, and the equipment needs to be purchased with high configuration. It takes time to cultivate talents, it is more convenient to buy. Many private enterprises now have more advanced equipment than foreign-funded enterprises and Japan. They also hire Japanese technicians, technical consultants, and deputy general managers to provide guidance on the spot. It is we who spare no effort to introduce high-priced machinery and talents to maintain the trade deficit for so many years.
2. China's mold parts industry lacks high-end technology
At present, more than 40% of the mold parts products in the world are made in China. The world's major IT and digital products are all manufactured by China. In the field of mold parts manufacturing, China's level has been in line with international standards. However, we still have a gap in high-end precision machine tool technology. The main reason is that the countries that master the technology are restricting the outflow of technology. Japan and Germany restrict the export of high-end machine tools. It restricts exports to China. Even the employment of high-end technical personnel in the field is limited, and they are worried that the loss of personnel will also be accompanied by the outflow of technology. Another more important factor is that we do not cultivate talents and do not have the habit of focusing on technology research and development. This reason is related to the above "focus only on buying".
