1. The general concept of grinding
In mechanical processing, grinding is a finishing process. Grinding usually adopts manual operation, adding abrasive material between the grinding tool and the grinding surface, grinding the very thin metal layer from the surface of the part, so that the workpiece can obtain a high-precision and high-finish surface. With the development of the machinery industry in recent years, grinding has also gradually tended to be mechanized.
2. The characteristics and purpose of grinding
The general grinding is mostly manual or semi-manual operation, the equipment is simple, the operation is convenient, the cost is low, and it is easy to maintain.
The purpose of grinding is to:
(1) Improve surface finish.
The parts after mechanical processing look rough on the surface, but the surface is very rough when enlarged.

2. Types of grinding

Surface Grinding Surface grinding is a processing item often encountered in grinding work, and the general operation is performed on the ground plate (grinding plate).
(2) Spherical and arc surfaces must be polished
For some precision instruments and precision mechanical parts, the grinding method is only used when the precision of the arc surface or spherical surface is high.
(3) Grinding of cylindrical surface
There are generally two grinding methods for cylindrical surfaces, one is the overall grinding sleeve: the other is the adjustable grinding sleeve.
Shaft Parts with high accuracy requirements are usually ground with integral sleeves.
(4) Grinding of inner hole
There are also two different grinding methods for inner hole grinding, one is manual grinding, and the other is coordinated operation with machine tools. He also has integral grinding rods and adjustable grinding rods. The inner hole that requires high smoothness is generally ground with an integral grinding rod.
(5) Grinding of thread and thread ring gauge
In order to improve the accuracy and smoothness of the thread, the thread that is turned or ground is often polished.
(6) Non-metallic (graphite) grinding
Graphite often uses water as a lubricant when grinding, so it is often used to choose a glass plate when grinding a flat plate (the surface of the plate is glued with a layer of glass before processing).
(7) Flat polishing
For parts with low precision requirements, you can polish after grinding. For parts with high precision requirements, you can get excellent finish and high precision by grinding with a sand plate.
